Disaster Preparedness

There is no shortage of recent reminders that disasters can strike anytime, anywhere. And while you can't predict them, you can prepare for them. University Products offers archival storage options and supplies designed to help libraries, archives, museums, and conservation labs to be ready for any number of possible disasters including fire, floods, insect infestations, and even theft. Some products, such as flood and fire alarms, can alert you to possible problems before they become too devastating. Others, such as insect monitoring traps can help you determine if a problematic infestation is developing. Water and fire proof cabinets and safes can preserve and protect some collections even through catastrophic events. There is even a complete line of acrylic coated, water resistant boxes (manufactured from our patented Perma/Dry Water Repellant Board) that can limit damage from sprinkler systems or burst water pipes. Security systems and alarms are also available to prevent or at least deter theft. And no matter how well prepared you may be, disaster can still strike. That's why we offer thoughtfully selected by museum professionals and emergency personell clean-up kits and supplies, HEPA Filter Vacuums, as well as protective clothing and raspirators to keep staff safe and protected while they attend to the aftermath of unforeseen disasters.
