We have taken our Marvelseal 360 barrier film and created a line of pouches that can be used for a variety of applications including cold storage, anoxic storage, insect eradication, and maintaining a controlled humidity environment. The pouches are a one piece design with two wide (nearly 1/2") heat-sealed side seams to ensure the barrier is not compromised. Place your object inside and seal the fourth side with a common clothes iron or our Miniature Tacking Iron. Price per package of five pouches. Custom sizes are available, minimums apply. - Cold Storage for Photography Collections – Vapor-Proof Packaging.A packaging system for items in cold storage helps to maintain the desired microclimate inside individual containers. It also prevents condensation from forming on the objects due to high relative humidity RH) dramatic changes in RH or moving directly from the cold to room temperature. Proper packaging techniques especially the use of vapor-proof packaging such as Marvelseal is essential for all cold-storage freezer units and simple cold rooms that do not have relative humidity (RH) control. Freezers experience numerous daily changes in RH as they go through the defrost cycle. This rapid fluctuation of RH can put undue stress on collections. Proper packaging alleviates this problem because the interior of the package does not respond to the change in RH experienced by the freezers. The RH in freezers may fluctuate up to 20% over the course of an hour but the RH inside the packages will only change about 1% within the same time frame. In addition to the Marvelseal inner packaging additional outer packaging is often recommended for cold storage. Consult a conservator for more info.
