conservator testing letters for acidityIf you're worried about potentially damaging acids or other impurities being present in your collection - on enclosures, supports, exhibit materials or the objects themselves, there are products available to alleviate your concerns. The pH of materials used for creating enclosures, housing, or exhibiting museum objects is of utmost importance to archivists, conservators and other museum professionals. These materials must be in the neutral pH range to prevent damage to art and artifacts.

Our Lineco pH indicating pen is a quick, economical means of detecting if acids are present. For a more accurate reading of exact pH levels, we offer Colorphast Indicator Strips, as well as the electronic Hannah pH Meter and flat head electrode. If the testing confirms presence of such acidic materials, they need to be separated immediately to avoid cross-contamination.

We also offer Bookkeeper Deacidification Spray to neutralize those acids. In addition, Iron Gall Ink Test Paper to alert you to the can detect presence of paper deteriorating Iron Gall ink on historic documents.
