Identification & Labeling Tools

natural history bird specimens identified with tagsProper identification of objects in a collection is of paramount importance to museum professionals.

And conservators, archivists and curators must choose the proper tools and techniques for identification or risk damaging art and artifacts. Our Acid-free Artifact I.D. Tags are a good way to start. They are available in a variety of sizes and formats, and include a laser printable version as well White Tyvek Tags that are waterproof and tear proof.

In certain cases, such as geology specimens or bone fragments, it may be necessary to mark identification names and numbers directly on an object. In that case we offer both clear and white Paraloid B.

And whether using I.D. tags or Paraloid, it is important to use the correct ink when recording information. You will find both Black India Ink for marking documents and fade proof acid-free Pigma Pens for permanent records.
