Activated Carbon Cloth
Activated Carbon Cloth (ACC) is a unique material ideally suited to address the problems of accelerated deterioration of displayed and stored artifacts caused by atmospheric pollution. ACC is composed of 100% activated carbon presented in a textile form and as such, can be cut, sewn and bonded to other materials to allow its integration within display and storage systems. It can also be used to remove odors from deteriorating organic objects and to retard the deterioration of books, paper, drawings and sketches. The cloth is manufactured in a 95 cm (approximately 37.5'') wide roll and can be readily cut to fit into storage and display systems. Activated Carbon Cloth is cut to each customer's specific length requirements. Pricing is per lineal foot. See “features” for additional information.
- • Create bags for storage of one or more items.
- • Line backing boards of framed paintings, drawings and textiles.
- • Line drawers, boxes or shipping crates.
- • ACC will adsorb vapors, including odors and certain inorganic molecules in the atmosphere.
- • ACC is most commonly used in preventive conservation to retard the corrosion of metals by adsorbing contaminants such as acetic acids.
- • ACC will also absorb water vapor and therefore can reduce humidity in a way similar to other desiccants such as silica gel.
