Swabstix 100% Bamboo

The Swabstix collection consists of bamboo skewers in 6 different sizes. Having a variety of swab sizes gives conservators options to choose the tool size that suits their needs perfectly. The lengths available range between 8 cm (3.15") and 25 cm (9.8"), and girths range from 1.3 mm (.05") to 5mm (.2"). Thinner and shorter tools can be used to craft cotton swabs as small as 3 mm wide. These small swabs are essential when working in small areas where high precision and control are key. Their short length makes them highly portable and easily disposable. These are great to bring onsite, for spot testing, and for the treatment of miniature objects. The medium-size Swabstix are the ideal choice to treat localized stains, to remove residue of adhesive or filling paste. They are also useful to clean paint film with heavy impasto and they are helpful to reach inside cavities where the larger tools do not fit. The larger Swabstix are the most commonly used in conservation. They have the right size for procedures across medium to large surfaces such as paper documents, textiles, sculptures, and paintings.
